The legend urged the students saying, “I entered cricket as a boy who always wanted to play for West Indies. I opened the door and shut it behind me and never looked back. I told myself this is my dream and this is what I wanted to do all my life. I took the ups and downs and kept learning every step of the way. I wanted to make my father proud, of course I wanted to make myself proud but I also wanted to inspire young West Indians to pick up the game of cricket and use it to become better in their lives.” He urged the students at DY Patil to do the same. “I want you to shut that door behind you. I want you to move forward through the legacy created by the kindness of Dr. Vijay Patil and his family and I want you guys to leave an imprint so positive that you’re proud of yourself and you inspire future generations to not only emulate you but be better than you, create greater things and have a bigger impact on the world.”
After the inspiring address, famous sports presenter Radhkrishnan Sreenivasan (RK) forayed into Brain Lara’s journey to becoming a champion cricketer who entertained the world and earned its respect through a fun Q&A that took everyone down memory lane.
