DYPU marks 22nd Oct as “Founders Day”
D Y Patil University marked the 82nd birthday celebration of our dearest “Dada” : Dr D Y Patil Sir – an educationist & philanthropist on 22nd October as “Founders Day”.
Recipient of Padma Shri Award & Ex Governor of Assam, Bihar & West Bengal, Dada has devoted himself to the cause of education.
Dada has focused his energies for the cause of education, with emphasis on professional education areas. He is of the opinion that the education patterned to train the students to face the challenges and ever changing job/skill requirements on account of globalization without forgetting ethos of rich Indian culture is bound to transform the society and thereby make India a strong, self supporting and leading nation. His preference is for actual implementation of his concepts rather than merely preaching.
The celebrations began with the DYP Group flag hoisting by First Lady of University & Trustee Ms Shivani Patil madam followed by university flag hoisting by Hon’ble VC Dr Shirish Sir & Registrar Mr Sandeep Suhag. Each institute flag was hoisted by their respective heads.
Next was a unique gift by Dada’s granddaughter Ms. Rajlaxmi Patil & her band “Evolution” as they mesmerized the entire audience with their stunning & stupendous performance. The western rhythm added flavours to the old & new numbers. The audience especially cheered for the evergreen number of Bryan Adams – ‘summer of 69’.
This was followed by a unique Marathi comedy play – ‘Dil toh Bacha Haiji’. Directed by Prasad Khandekar & performance by the various actors like Paddy(Pandharinath) Kamble, Prasad Khandekar, Sushil Inamdar, Om Panvelkar, Rasika Vengurlekar, Antara Patil, Aditi Bhaskar tickled the audience to a great extent.
Such unique celebration of Dada’s birthday will be remembered by each & every staff member & student of the university.
And let’s not forget his favorite quote: “Ego is death of life, death of ego is real life. If you follow this principle in life you are bound to succeed”.
