Hon. Shri. Vijay Goel – Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports along with Hon. Shri. Vinod Tawde - Minister of Higher & Technical Education visited the D Y Patil Sports Stadium Navi Mumbai on 17th May 10, 2017 Wednesday and shared how delighted he was to see the preparations made by the stadium authorities for the FIFA U17 World Cup to be held in October 2017.
The minister was welcomed by the stadium staff and students of D.Y.Patil University who are extremely excited to host the FIFA U17 World Cup at their stadium.
Dr. Vijay Patil along with his designated team took Shi Vijay Goel through the stadium facilities and the two practice grounds. Dr. Vijay Patil said “We have worked hard to make sure that everything is designed as per FIFA standards and we are grateful that Hon. Shri. Vijay Goel is here today to support and encourage us for the tournament”.
The main stadium has a fully maintained international standard FIFA inspected natural pitch area where two seasons of Indian Super League along with one Final was hosted successfully. The FIFA pitch inspection team has been periodically inspecting all the pitch areas and happy with the progress. The stadium has added two new dressing rooms which makes it 4 dressing rooms in the main stadium to match FIFA requirements for two double header games. D.Y.Patil stadium is also replacing 51000 chairs to make sure that not just the players but the spectators and football supporters also have an unforgettable experience watching the matches. Talking about not compromising on details the stadium authorities have created bridges between the stands and the ground for emergency situations as per FIFA guidelines.
The two practice grounds around the main stadium are also periodically inspected by the FIFA pitch inspection team and are upto the mark. There is successful installation of permanent eight new floodlight towers for both grounds for night practice sessions. Both grounds have newly renovated dressing rooms.
The teams based at D Y Patil Stadium will also take advantage of other facilities like the gymnasium, swimming pool, badminton, squash, tennis and other sports facilities.
Without a doubt D.Y.Patil Stadium is all set to make India proud by hosting this event with great hospitality and an undying spirit to support a great sport.
