World was all set to hold the third edition of International Yoga Day on Wednesday, June 21. After India highlighted the importance of yoga -which began in India 5,000 years ago – to the United Nations. Three years ago, ‘June 21’ was declared as the International Yoga Day, bringing together 176 countries to sign a resolution. In an attempt to make the yoga day a success D Y Patil University; School of Ayurveda successfully co organized the event at CIDCO Exhibition Center, Vashi with joint collaboration with Dept of AYUSH & Arogyabharti.
Event was a grand success as more then 3000 candidates attended the event in which all the medical, Ayurved & Nursing colleges from Mumbai had participated with their delegates. MLA Mr. Ravindra Chavan (Minister of State for Ports, Medical Education, Information and Technology, Food and Civil supplies, Consumer protection Government of Maharashtra), along withMLA Mr. Prashant Thakur & MLA Mrs. Mandatai Mhatre,Director of AYUSH Maharashtra State Dr. Kuldip singh Koholi and many more dignitaries were also present for the event which took place on 21st June 2017, started at 7.00am IST. The event was series of demonstration of YOGASANAS, SURYA-NAMASKARS & MAALA KHAMB demonstrations by the experts from the field followed by 45 mins of Yoga & Pranayam conducted by more then 3000 candidates at the same time attending the event.
More than 500 deligates from DYPU attended the event including all the students, faculties & staff of DYPSoA & other institutes affiliated to DYPU. Around Hundreds of CSIF Javans also participated in the event to make the event more grateful by direct involvement of Ministry of Home Affairs in such an event.
