National Seminar on Manuscriptology for P. G. Students and teachers

Department of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant, School of Ayurveda, DY Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai successfully conducted a one day National Seminar on Manuscriptology for P. G. Students and teachers on 9th February 2018 in a Virtual classroom. The prime focus of this seminar was to educate post-graduate students and teachers on the basics of manuscriptology. In total, seventy-five delegates from various colleges of Maharashtra and Gujarat participated in this seminar.

IMG_5122Honorable Dr. Shyam Bhutada sir, Dean, MGAC, DMIMS, Wardha and Honourable Dr. Shirish Patil sir, Vice-Chancellor, DY Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai graced the inaugural function with their presence as the chief guests. Dr. Maheshkumar Harit sir, Dean, School of Ayurveda, DY Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai delivered the welcome speech.

The first scientific session was chaired by Dr. Manisha Dunghav, Professor and Head, Dept of Ayurveda Samhita & Siddhanta, Parul Institute of Ayurveda & Research, Ishwarpura, Waghodia, Vadodara.

IMG_5106IMG_5103Dr. Madhavi Narsalay, Assistant Professor and Head, Dept of Sanskrit, University of Mumbai delivered a lecture on ‘‘Basics of Manuscriptology’.

The second scientific session was chaired by Dr. Maheshkumar Harit sir, Dean, School of Ayurveda, DY Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai.

Dr. Asitkumar Panja, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Basic Principles, National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur delivered lecture on ‘Critical Edition and Publication of Ayurvedic Manuscripts’.

 

Third scientific session was chaired by Dr. Mohan Joshi, Professor, Dept of Sanskrt Samhita Siddhant, Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune.

IMG_5229Dr. Devdatta Deshmukh Assistant Professor, Department of Dravyagunavijnan, ASS Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Nashik, Maharashtra delivered lecture on ‘Manuscriptology with reference to Ayurvedic Manuscriptology’.

IMG_5139Dr. Shyamasundaran K, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Ayurveda Samhita and Siddhanta, Parul Institute of Ayurved and Research, Vadodara, Gujarat delivered a presentation on ‘Insights on setting up Manuscript Institute in an Academic setup’.

Total 15 papers and 05 posters were presented by the delegates in the oral and poster presentation competition.

Winners of Oral Presentations were:

  1. Mohan Joshi, Dept of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant, Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune
  2. Manisha Singhla, Dept of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant, Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune

And Dr. Komal Gawali, Assistant Professor, Dept of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant, School of Ayurveda, DY Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai.

Winners of Poster Presentations were:

  1. Jai Kudtarkar, Dept of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant, Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune
  2. Madhura Kulkarni, Dept of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant, Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune

Prizes were distributed at the hands of Dr. Shyam Bhutada sir, Dean, MGAC, DMIMS, Wardha.

Dr. Sudarshan Hande, Associate Professor, Dept of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhant, School of Ayurveda, DY Patil Deemed to be University, Navi Mumbai gave vote and thanks.
