Many Universities / Colleges acquire acres of lands but the plantation of Medicinal plants seems to be minimum. Hence, the proper utilization of lands through cultivation of medicinal plants will help to maintain bio-awareness regarding the environment. As a part of community training and extension service, School of Ayurveda, D.Y.Patil Deemed to be University, had arranged a Training workshop on “Field & Cultivation Practices in Medicinal Plants” on 24th August 2018.The program was nomenclated as “Vanaaushadhi Samvardhan Karyashala” and was a venture where our university trusted our Department and gave an opportunity to organized it.
The invited delegates included Garden Supervisors, Garden supertindents, Head Malis of Universities along with Ayurved Teaching staffs and interested Post Graduate Students from various Ayurved Institute. The Program was conducted at Demonstration Hall, D.Y.Patil Herbal Garden with a formal Inguaration of Dhanvantari Pooja,Deep Prajawal .The Dias was shared by Dignitaries Mrs.Mahedeswar Ashwini(COE D.Y.Patil University), Dr.Omkar Shetty ,Dean School of Dentistry ,Dr. Amar Dwivedi Vice Dean School of Ayurveda and Dr Giri C.M ,Head of Dravyaguna Department. Keynote Address was given by Mrs.Mahadeshwar followed by felicitating the Guest with Token of honor ,respect by offering ‘Shaal and Shriphala’ to the Guest.The Program was scheduled in Two sessions and was started Guest Lecture of Dr. Digambar Mokat ,Assist Professor of Savitri Bai Phule Pune University .
He mainly dealt with information, conservation of medicinal plants and necessity of cultivation of medicinal plants and their nursery techniques. The second session with mini Lectures conducted by the Departmental Staffs Dr. Khandare M, Dr.Shraddha N, Dr.Giri C.M.The department felicitated the herbal garden worker of high experience Mrs.Ashabai Virkar with bouquets for sincere service and contribution in nurturing and maintaining Garden .The session was concluded by vote of thanks giving and distribution of Certificates and Medicinal Plants sapling to the Delegates.The program was attended by aroung 50 delegates from other institutes and Universities ,School of Ayurveda Teaching Staffs ,UG and PG Students .
