Annual National Oration Lecture and Workshop on Research Orientation

On the 5th of July, 2019 we gathered to memorialize the benevolent occasion of our dearest Mummyji, ‘Late Mrs. Pushpalata D. Patil’s birth anniversary at the Dr. D.Y. Patil School of Dentistry Auditorium.

To exemplify this propitious day, as a tribute to late Mrs. Pushpalata D. Patil, Dr. Vivek P. Soni (H.O.D. Dept. of Orthodontics) with the constant support of our President and ChancellorDr. Vijay D. Patil and encouragement by our Dean Dr. Omkar Shetty, pursued greater heights to provide a niche plethora of theoretical and clinical knowledge by organising the first Annual National Oration lecture and Workshop on Research Orientation for Post Graduate Students with the President of Indian Orthodontic Society, Dr. Pradeep Jain as the key note speaker in the august presence of our beloved esteemed guestsDada sahib, ‘Hon. Dr.D.Y. Patil’ Sir, Respected President and Chancellor Hon. Dr. Vijay D. Patil, Managing Trustee Hon. Mrs. Shivani V. Patil, Invited Guest Dr. N.G. Toshniwal and Dean Dr. Omkar Shetty.

Perfection is the eternal quest, more so for an orthodontist. With this idea very much in sight, Dr. Vivek P. Soni’s meticulous and painstaking perseverance, along with the other Teaching faculty of the Department of Orthodontics, put together a very interactive and magnanimous National oration lecture and Workshop on Research Orientation exemplifying the orthodontic essence to aid for the better understanding of orthodontic mechanics and research on all the relevant aspects of Orthodontia in the school of Dentistry Auditorium for Post Graduate Student delegates from all over India.

The President of Indian Orthodontic Society and key note speaker, Dr. Pradeep Jain put forward a detailed seminar for the guidelines on ‘A to Z preparation of research synopsis.’ which primarily focused on strengthening the core of healthy curiosity and knowledge by introducing the post graduate students to methods and trends that are incorporated in the field of Orthodontic clinical practice and research endeavours.Our Invited guest,Dr. N.G. Toshniwal elaborated in detail on the Cochrane Collaboration and 21st Century Learning which sparked a very healthy interactive session with the young budding entrepreneurial student delegates.

To Conclude the Workshop, a noteworthy lecture on Research Methodology was given by Dr. Siddharth Acharya which played a vital role in building cohesiveness between the attendees and the years of effort put in by the experienced pundits of the orthodontic profession by providing a platform for nurturing broader perspectives in understanding the upcoming trends in the orthodontic profession and set a benchmark in the field of Orthodontia that would extensively advocate the spirit of our institution.

All in all, the National Oration lecture and Workshop on Research Orientationhelped all of us understand and connect more deeply with our beloved mummyji and her ever so encouraging ideologies on innovation and healthy curiosity leaving us in deep retrospect.Our lives are touched by many souls, but the ones that truly matter are the ones that encourage to achieve more than you ever thought possible. And Mrs. Patil was such a lady.
