A vaccination drive was held on the 9th of February, 2017 against Hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is one of the most commonly acquired infections by medical practitioners. This drive was organised by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The Dean, Dr. Omkar Shetty, the Vice Dean, Dr. Avinash Tamgadge, and the Dean of Faculty, attended the drive to show their support and encouragement, for the initiative taken by the Oral Surgery department.
An outstanding response was seen from the staff and Postgraduate students, as a total of 101 doctors got vaccinated. The entire event was co-ordinated by Dr. Neha, post graduate student in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
The next vaccination drive is scheduled to be held on the 9th of April and will be managed by Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Prajakta and Dr. Divya.
The overwhelming response to the drive was appreciated by one and all. The event was held with multiple motives in mind. Apart from vaccinating our fellow dentists, it was also aimed to create awareness amongst people and make them more wary, to the dangers, practitioners face on a daily basis. The fact, that so many people took the time out of their day, to attend, proves the willingness to help create awareness and safeguard their health while upholding their oaths.
