On the occasion of ‘World No-Tobacco Day’, 31st May, 2019, the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, D Y Patil University- School of Dentistry inaugurated its new ‘Tobacco Cessation Clinic’.
The clinic was inaugurated by Honorable Dr. Omkar Shetty, Dean in the presence of all Heads of the departments, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of the college.
The growing use of tobacco is a cause of great concern around the world due to its serious ill effects on health. As always, DY Patil School of Dentistry is at the forefront in addressing such problems and has started this clinic with an intention to curb the use of tobacco in the masses.
The clinic is well equipped with various posters and models which describe the harm caused by tobacco to the human body. It will function as a center for educating and counselling the patients about the ill effects of tobacco use in its various forms. An informative PowerPoint presentation is also shown to the patients.
A Poster competition for students was also held which had an overwhelming response. Various posters on the ill effects of tobacco consumption, oral cancer and awareness were presented by the students.
