Orthodontic Exhibition for patient awareness and Student education

On the 5th of July, 2018 the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, D.Y.Patil University, School Of Dentistry, Navi Mumbai organised the ‘Orthodontic Exhibition for patient awareness and student education’ on the auspicious occasion of our very beloved Mummyji, Late Mrs. Pushpalata D. Patil’s birth anniversary outside the HMCT Auditorium.

Mummyji was a figure of pure golden solitude and a beacon of great virtues that enabled her to touch more lives than she ever knew and in turn pave the path for all of us to embark on the journey of greatness. As a tribute to her, the Dept. of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, D.Y.Patil University, School of Dentistry, launched the ‘Pushpalata Maatru Madhur Hasya Yojna’ for all the Mother’s seeking beautiful orthodontic smiles in the august presence of our beloved Dada sahib, Hon. Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil Sir, Guest of Honour Mr. Laxmanrao Dhobale, Mr. Vilasrao Vaidande – a close associate of Dada sahib, respected President Hon. Dr. Vijay D. Patil, First Lady and Managing Trustee Hon. Mrs. Shivani V. Patil, Hon. Dr. Nandita Palshetkar and Vice Chancellor respected Dr. Shirish Patil and all our esteemed Dignitaries.

At the D.Y.Patil University, School Of Dentistry, we believe that the educational process should be student-centric and contribute to the all-round development of the individual. We believe that learning is a continuous process and keeping this very sentiment in mind, the entrepreneurial innovation and zestful desire to learn and grow was exemplified and visually amplified in all the efforts undertaken by Dr. Vivek P . Soni (H.O.D. Dept. of Orthodontics) with the constant support of our President Dr. Vijay D. Patil and encouragement by our Dean Dr. Omkar Shetty, who pursued greater heights to provide a niche plethora of theoretical and clinical knowledge to all the patients and students who attended the exhibition.

Orthodontics being a specialty of its own is rapidly updating itself with advanced technologies and new innovative methods that could simplify clinical practice.

Perfection is the eternal quest, more so for an orthodontist. With this idea very much in sight, Dr. Sushma Sonawane’s meticulous and painstaking perseverance, along with the other staff and post-graduate students of the Department of Orthodontics, put together a very interactive and magnanimous exhibition of more than 35 3D models exemplifying the orthodontic essence and 50 detailed self-explanatory posters for the better understanding of orthodontic mechanics and research on all the relevant aspects of Orthodontia.

The exhibition primarily focused on strengthening the core of healthy curiosity and knowledge by introducing the visiting patients and students to methods and trends that are incorporated in the field of Orthodontic clinical practice and research endeavours.

The event played a vital role in building cohesiveness between the exhibition attendees and the years of effort put in by the experienced pundits of the orthodontic profession by providing a platform for nurturing broader perspectives in understanding the upcoming trends in the orthodontic profession and set a benchmark in the field of Orthodontia that would extensively advocate the spirit of our institution.
