Global Food Festival at the Urban Haat CIDCO
D Y Patil School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies had organized a Global Food Festival at the Urban Haat CIDCO from 17th to 19th October. The Food Festival was inaugurated by Ad Guru Prahlad Kakkar & Yash Kohli. They said the Students had put up a very good show. Prahlad Kakkar was very interactive with the students and gave his own tips on making Sweet Chilli Mushroom. He also very much appreciated the Prawn Pickle which was dished out by the Indian Cuisine Stall.
The Food Festival was an initiative by the School to promote Entrepreneurship amongst their students. It was a fun filled out of the Class activity for the students where the students were involved right from decorating the place to creating individual food stalls of various global Cuisines. Students were divided into different batches and every batch was responsible for their own food stall in terms of Planning the Menu, Costing the Menu, Setting up their Stalls & preparing mouth watering delicacies under the guidance of their faculty. Students were all enthusiastic and it showed in the way the Food Plaza at Urban Haat was transformed into a Global Food Street, and by the tasty and yummy food they had dished out. There was a lot of variety for the guests to choose from starting with Ayurvedic Mocktails for the health conscious to Indian Street Food, Chaat Counters, Maharashtrian Coastal Cuisine, Oriental & Chinese, Italian Pastas, Burgers & Chips, Rolls & Wraps and all Baked Cakes & Goodies.
Residents of in and around Navi Mumbai were happy to visit the food fest. They were also excited to know that all that great food was prepared by students all decked up in their Chef Coats & Chef Caps& were ready to serve them with a smile on their lips. All the guests who came in appreciated the food and ambience and suggested that the Students should set up such Festivals regularly so that people can enjoy good, economical & hygienic food in a cheerful environment.
All in all it was a great experience both for the student and faculty as well as all the food connoisseurs of Navi Mumbai.D Y Patil,School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies plans to host many such events in the future to motivate the students and making learning a fun filled activity.
