Bakery Workshop for Specially abled kids @shts

D.Y. Patil University, School of Hospitality and Tourism Studies, Nerul,Navi Mumbai has organized intriguing Bakery workshop for specially abled students on 29th October 2018 in bakery lab of SHTS premises. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Sunshine School of Special Children, Vashi Navi Mumbai.

A workshop provides a way to create an intensive educational experience in a short amount of time. Thus motivating students to develop skills and creativity.The students were brought to the University by the buses of their own school.These students were escorted from the gate to the porch of the Hospitality School by the students and faculties. These students were then taken by the volunteers to Bakery & Patisserie Department to See, Learn and Practice bakery products.

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Studies aims at imparting bakery skills and knowledge to the Students of NGOs &Physically Challenged Children’s and also the Bakery & Patisserie Department gave these students an opportunity to explore the bakery world.

In this workshop students get demonstration and practice of chocolate chip cookies, Pineapple cake and Chocolate truffle cake.

Anupama, one of the students said ‘it was a very informative session. I got to learn so many new things and the practice which they give were easy to grasp and understand. I would love to learn more about bakery world.

Post the workshop, the students were served the products (Cookies, Chocolate Truffle cake and Pineapple Cake) for tasting. It was overall a great experience for the students and pleasure for the faculties to serve them.

 Chef Dinesh, Chef Shilpaand Chef Bhavna from Bakery & Patisserie Department organised this workshop on behalf of the SHTS College. The session concluded with a vote of thanks and felicitation of guests for carrying out such a fruitful workshop.
