D.Y.Patil University School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies organised an extensive and intriguing workshop on facets of Event Management for first year culinary students on 1stfeb 2019 in the virtual classroom. The workshop was organised in collaboration with Sparsh Eventurespvt. Ltd. –a pioneer event management company of Mumbai. Mrs. Pooja Jaywant, Director &Ms.Sakshi Shetty, Marketing Head of the firm conducted the workshop for students. They spoke at length about the event management industry and focused on the relationship that the industry shares with the field of hospitality and culinary.
The session began with a brief introduction on the nature and size of events. The speakers elaborated on the size, type and functioning of Indian event industry and then went on to discuss the glaring employment opportunities that the field offers- especially to hospitality & culinary officials.
The session was attended by F.Y.B.Sc. students of Culinary Studies. They found the session immensely knowledgeable and kept the speakers on their toes by bombarding them with a plethora of questions. Mr. Singh narrated real life incidents from the industry to the students and sought optimal solutions from them. This resulted in an interactive and engaging session that was appreciate Mrs. Jaywant also briefed the students about the inception of her company and urged them to take up event management as a career option. She was impressed by all the students and surprised the entire audience by offering them an internship in her company. She asserted that she would love to hire such passionate students who are willing to take on the industry with vigour and confidence.
Chef Naeem Pathan organised this workshop on behalf of the college. The session concluded with a vote of thanks and felicitation of guests for carrying out such a fruitful workshop for our students.
