D.Y.Patil University School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies organised an intriguing virtual session for Culinary Students on 31 August 2018 at the university virtual classroom. The session was conducted by Ms. Ramyaa Ravichandra, a renowned food blogger and placement consultant in Seattle, USA. It was an engaging session as the speaker informed the students about the employment prospects in America and distinctly outlined the importance of English proficiency for the same. She spoke at length about different aspects of Communicative English and how each of these aspects are screened before offering employment to any candidate in any industry in her country.
She also gave the students some smart tricks to prepare for such screenings. Besides, she also spoke about entrepreneurship opportunities that America offers-especially in the culinary industry. She asserted that the country is seeing a bloom of food trucks at every spot and these trucks are making immense business. She also spoke about the dominant cuisines out there and also informed the students about the kind of street food Americans prefer to eat. The students enjoyed the session and found it very informative. They asked Ms. Ravichandra a lot of questions and she solved all the queries.
