“The most alluring thing a woman can have is confidence” this phrase was proven right by the women of Navi Mumbai by participating in the Mini Marathon. The Mini Marathon was organized by D Y Patil School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies with an association with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation on the occasion of International Women’s Day. NMTV was the media partner. Eminent personalities were present to grace the occasion. Mr.Hemant Nagrale, Police Commissioner of Navi Mumbai, Mr.Ankush Chavan, Additional Commissioner NMMC, Ms.Sayali Shinde, Chairperson of the Women & Childcare Committee (NMMC), Mr.D.S Chabukukswar, DMC (NMMC) and Ms.Trupti Sandbhor DMC (NMMC), Dr,Shirish Patil, Vice Chancellor of D Y Patil University.
Navi Mumbai women were all geared up for the Marathon. Around 2000 women gathered in the D Y Patil Stadium on 8 March at 6.30 am. Zumba was held first as a warming up exercise. Then the balloons were flown followed by the Marathon. The route was from D Y Patil Stadium to Nerul station and back to the stadium. Right from young girls to middle aged women and also senior citizens showed full enthusiasm.
First Lady of D Y Patil University Mrs.Shivani Patil motivated the crowd by saying “You should never let your fears prevent you from doing what you know is right”. The complete SHTS women team comprising of students and staff participated with great enthusiasm and the male staff and students cheered them up which showed the gender equality in the organization.
“When there are no ceilings, the sky’s the limit. So let’s keep going — let’s keep going until every one of the millions of women and girls has the opportunity she deserves to have.” concluded by the Director.

Ms.Snehal Shinde was the First Prize Winner, Ms.Swarajali Gole was in the Second Position and Ms.Abeer Arsiwala (student of DY Patil School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies) was in the Third position.
