National Seminar on Modern Concepts in Library Designing & Modification at D.Y.Patil University!

D.Y.Patil University School of Hospitality &Tourism Studies organised an intriguing National Seminar on ‘Modern Concepts in Library Designing & Modification’ on Thursday, 22nd March 2018 from 8:30 am to 5:00pm at the Medical Central Library in the university premises. The college took this initiative in its quest of exemplifying the vision of Dr. Vijay D. Patil , Chancellor, D.Y.Patil University and Mrs. Shivani Patil, First Lady, D.Y.Patil University who aspire to provide quality par excellence education to the young minds of our country. Library is a storehouse of immense knowledge and has undergone a vas transformation in the past decade. With the  advent of digitisation and specific library management software- the entire realm of Library Sciences is at a threshold of a massive change.


 The seminar was graced by eminent people who engaged  the assembled audience with their valuable opinion on the aforementioned topic. Library stalwarts from across the country- Mr. Mahendra Jadhav(Librarian, IIT Madras), Dr. Rajendra Kambhar(Librarian, Pune University), Prof. Narayan Barase(Librarian, Joshi Bedekar College, Member of Senate &BOS, University of Mumbai), Dr. Subhash Chavan, Director, Knowledge Resource Centre, SNDT University, Mumbai) and Mr. Pralhad R. Jadhav(Sr. Library Manager, Khaitan Company)  presided over the seminar as resource persons. They spoke at length about the minute aspects of library designing and enlightened the audience about its relevance in the contemporary scenario. Librarians from various parts of the country attended this seminar and were all praise for it. The event started with the lighting of the lamp, followed by the felicitation of the distinguished guests by D.Y.Patil University. The first session focussed on numerous strategies that could be employed for transforming existing and traditional libraries into modern ones. It was an intense session and the participants were immensely impressed by the suggestions of the speakers. The second session focussed on infusion of modernization into the realm of library sciences and addressed the need technological up gradation in order to compete with world class libraries. The entire gathering was awestruck by the infrastructure and facilities available at the D.Y.Patil University Central Library, and praised the university for this endeavour.  The session concluded with a valedictory speech and distribution of certificates to all the participants.
