D.Y.Patil University School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies organised an extensive and intriguing Seminar on importance of Yield Management for 2nd Year Hospitality Management students on 26th February, 2019 in the 3rd Floor Front Office Lab SHTS building. The session was organised in collaboration with ITC Maratha Mumbai – A Luxury Collection . Integrating India’s fine tradition of hospitality with globally benchmarked services, the luxury hotels reflect the culture and ethos of each destination. Ms. Anokha Kumar, Assistant Manager Sales- ITC Maratha, Mumbai conducted the session for students. She spoke at length about Asset-light model, Mid-market boom, Local flavour. Also taught students about what hotel industry has stored for us in future. Discussed on the concept of Yield management and also made students understand the concept and application in high & low demand dates in hospitality industry and it’s importance & application in hotel industry and focused on the growing career scope that the industry has for future of hospitality.
The session began with a brief introduction on Forecasting. The speaker elaborated on the importance of brief idea on Asset-light model, Mid-market boom, Local flavour of hospitality industry and then went on to discuss concept of Yield management and also made students understand the concept and application in high & low demand dates in hospitality industry. She spoke on the glaring employment opportunities that the field offers & spoke about what hotel industry has stored for us in future. The session was attended by SY.B.Sc. students of Hospitality Management. They found the session immensely knowledgeable and kept the speaker on his toes by bombarding them with a plethora of questions.
Ms. Kumar narrated few real-life incidents from the industry to the students and sought optimal solutions from them. This resulted in an interactive and engaging session that was appreciated by one and all. Ms. Kumar made the students laugh, on how the entire concept of revenue management can be extreme fun! Her session was a complete balance of entertainment and industry acumen. Mrs. Gopi Sagar Kadam organised this virtual session on behalf of the college. The session concluded with a vote of thanks for carrying out such a fruitful session for our students.
