SHTS Visits Munich, Switzerland & Italy !!
DY Patil Deemed to be University, School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies organized an exclusive Industrial Tour of Europe for the students. The ten-day enthralling tour kick-started on 9 February 2019 and covered top-notch colleges and the Hospitality industry of Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. The first destination in the itinerary was Munich- a city that embodies German cuisine & Hospitality. The students visited the Beer Brewing Factory of Hofbräuhaus München, where they studied the entire process of beer brewing from scratch to the final product. They also visited local sightseeing places like the Nymphenburg Castle, English Garden, Allianz Arena, Marine Platz, and many more.
In Switzerland, the students attended demonstrations, lectures, and workshops in 4 distinct Hospitality Institutes and got to learn a lot. In Ceasar Ritz, the students attended a chocolate making workshop wherein they made delectable chocolates with the chef. The students were also invited to a Grand Gala Dinner by the Dean of the college and enjoyed every bit of Swiss Hospitality and Courtesy. The visits to the other three colleges were as exclusive as the first one. From demonstrations of Classical European Cuisine, European Protocol of F & B Service to enjoying conversation with Academic Deans and interacting with the CEO of Swiss Education Group over a cup of coffee and some Swiss chocolates- the students got the best advantage of the Hospitality world right here.
The final destination of the trip was Italy. The students enjoyed the flavours of local Italian Cuisine and visited the Cheese Factory of Parmesano Regiano. The students reported to the factory premises early in the morning and witnessed the entire process of Cheese Making , right from boiling of the milk to the moulding of cheese. The students were also explained about the storage, preservation and ageing mechanism of cheese. The best part of the visit, was the cheese tasting session in which the students relished the purest form of authentic cheese.
Dr. Iftekhar Shaikh, Assistant Professor organized this trip on behalf of the college. He accompanied the students on the tour and was supported by Mr. Milind Kilpadi, Mrs. Bhakti Naik, and Mrs. Neha Sharma – Assistant Professors at SHTS. All the students were extremely happy with the visit and extended a heartfelt thanks to the management for giving them such a splendid opportunity.
