Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is also called as the Clean India Mission or Clean India drive or Swachh Bharat Campaign. It is a national level campaign run by the Indian Government to cover all the backward statutory towns to make them clean. This campaign involves the construction of latrines, promoting sanitation programmes in the rural areas, cleaning streets, roads and changing the infrastructure of the country to lead the country ahead. This campaign was officially launched by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on 145th birth anniversary of the Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd of October in 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi.
In the same regards , we at SHTS decided to contribute to the cause by picking up brooms and shovels and cleaning up first our very own Campus. We had arranged Cleanliness Drive on Campus at the School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies , D. Y. Patil University in association with NMMC staff. It was great to see that the students were enthusiastic and enjoying this activity out of their classrooms. And we were all smiles when at the end of it we had Sparkling surroundings.
School of Hospitality & Tourism Students have this good quality of not leaving any mission in between  once SHTS gets  on to something they  get till the depth of it and thus SHTS students along with very enthusiastic Housekeeping faculty , guide and mentor Ms. Pallavi Choudhary approached the NMMC for more such cleanliness drives . The students took this initiative on their reliable shoulders to have a clean Navi Mumbai so they approached the officials and took the charge of cleaning NMMT Bus depot at Turbhe on the 10th & 11th March 2016.
Our students did this task so very well that the Mayor Hon. Sagar Naik Sahib appreciated the students personally by visiting the site and was so very impressed by seeing the enthusiasm and hardwork of the students that he asked the students if they could render their services in cleaning another such office . As always accomplishing of  targets and missions has always been our students strength so they willingly took another assignment of cleaning the Konkan Bhawan at Belapur.
It is our pride to announce that School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies students have brought pride to us by taking this cleanliness drive and have proved that the young generation is ready to move and work to any extend for the betterment of our society , country and environment. School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies , D. Y. Patil University is always in front for a good cause for a better Planet.
