DY Patil Group: From Cradle to Employment

D Y Patil Group is the only educational institution which believes in the principle of ‘from cradle to employment’. A student can enter the group as a child in its D Y Patil School and can leave as a post-graduate in medicine, dentist, engineering or even as a management expert. The D Y Patil University School of Management (DYPUSM) offers a wide variety of programs, which are absolutely unique and industryoriented. Being a deemed university, the school has an extremely strong Board of Studies which comprises students, industry personnel and faculties. The Board of Studies revises the syllabus on a regular basis. Thus, the course curriculum is in line with the requirements of the industry. The University is NAAC reaccredited ‘A’. The school has been ranked by several organizations and is ranked at 77 by several agencies, Top-100 B-Schools, among others. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) have been signed with the University of Carolina in areas of research, student exchange and faculty development. Similarly, another MoU have been signed with the University of East London and the Vasan Eye care in the area of Student Exchange Program. The students of East London were given an intense 15-day program on various aspects of Supply Chain Logisitics. In addition, MoUs have also been signed with certain industries in the areas of joint working. For example, in areas of development of short-term courses and consultancy projects.


The DYPUSM students are mandated to undertake live projects wherein they would have to work in the organization for around two days in a week. Around 40 guest lectures are conducted in a year wherein senior leaders from the industry speak to the students and share their experiences and thought processes. Around eight national and international level conferences are conducted in a year where global leaders, CEOs are invited. Case studies in the virtual classroom are regularly conducted as part of the pedagogy. Emphasis is given in personality development of the students through regular classes on soft-skill development. Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) projects help in the holistic development of the student. Faculties are involved in case writing, research papers, Management Development Programs, Consultancy Projects, among others. Thus the industry benefits by obtaining a ready-to-use student from Day-1 itself.


The curriculum, faculty and the Industry-Institute Interaction are the most important contributing factors which results in academic excellence. Academically, more than 75% of the faculties are holders of the PhD degree. On average, around 20 to 25 research papers are published every year by our faculties in high impact factor journals—impact factor of around 7.2. Around 4 to 5 Indian cases are written every year. Case study as a pedagogy tool is mandatory. The School has been ranked 65th by the Times Nielson Survey, Ranked A++ by a prominent business magazine. It has been ranked 77th by a political magazine and 34th in Future Orientation magazine by a prominent business Further, it has been ranked amongst the top-100 B-Schools in India by Dalal Street, just to list a few. The Director has been awarded the Best Teacher and the Best Management Teacher by the Higher Education Forum and the MTC Global. Besides, the students have secured several prizes in sports, inter-university and inter-school competitions, among others.
