Institutional Social Responsibility Gets a STRONG boost at DY Patil Deemed to be University School of Management

DY Patil Deemed to be University School of Management (DYPUSM) – a leader in Institutional Social Responsibilities projects joined hands with another leader in the Corporate Social Responsibilities area viz. the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai’s youth organization Rotaract Club.

With the objective of securing the collaboration and giving a boost to the various projects, a new organization was formed and styled as the ROTARACT CLUB OF DYPUSM. A 10 member executive team was formed for this purpose led by two senior faculties Dr. Sonia Justin Raj and Dr. Prajakta Mondkar. The team was installed on the 14th August 2018.

The installation ceremony commenced with prayer and lighting of the lamp by Prof. Dr. R. Gopal, Mr. Suresh Babu, Outgoing President of Rotary Club, Incoming President Commander Rajiv Gupta, Rotarian Rajesh Donny and others.

2Dr. Sonia and Dr. Prajakta welcomed the guests and gave a gist of the discussions before the group could be formed. Prof. Dr. R. Gopal spoke about the need for such social projects. Prof. Dr. R. Gopal spoke about the events organized and achievements met by the college under the banner of ISR (Institutional Social Responsibility). He also spoke about the successful sustainable projects like Project Soya Ladhoo at Vasai, near Mumbai, Project Tasar in Raigad district and Project Drishti at Vangani district near Badlapur, Maharashtra State, etc. that was carried out by the students of the School of Management. All these projects were aimed at empowering women. Dr. Gopal said that one of the objectives of the School of Management is to ensure a HOLISTIC development of the student and these projects were in the direction of the holistic development of the student.

Mr. Abdul Rahman Shaikh was appointed unanimously as the President of the Rotaract club of DYPUSM followed by the installation of Mr. Rishabe Kakade as the secretary of the club. Mr. Abdul spoke about the various projects that the club would be carrying out in the course of the year.


Some of the projects which the club intends to carry out in the near future are:

  1. Skill development Project specifically for students of the 11th and 12th standard students of the Municipal Schools of Navi Mumbai
  2. The Teaching of English Language and Grammar to the students of the primary and secondary children of the municipal schools of Navi Mumbai.
  3. Identification of villages for the installation of village purification units.
  4. Career talks to students in association with Raigad Chamber of Commerce
  5. The Collection of contributions for the flood ravished the state of Kerala. Within two days the group collected around Rs. 10000/- from the students and staff and donated this amount to the concerned authorities for further transmission to Kerala.

The outgoing President Mr. Suresh Babu, gave a motivational talk to the students and asked the new members to work hard and ensure that the Rotaract club of DYPUSM is one of the best clubs. He also congratulated the newly installed board. Incoming President Commander Rajiv Gupta and Rotarian Mr. Rahesh Donny briefly explained the importance of the Rotaract movement, and congratulated all the Rotaract members.They also appreciated the efforts put by the various members of the club especially the faculty members Dr. Sonia Justin& Dr. Prajakta Mondkar.

Dr. Sunil Surte, Administrative Head delivered the vote of thanks.
