Our student from Allied Health sciences, Ms. Persis S. Mistry was recently awarded the United States President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for her outstanding volunteer service. Ms. Persis S. Mistry was a United States citizen and completed her graduation in US. She is currently studying Physician Assistant course in Allied Sciences I School of Medicine, Medicine at D Y Patil University Navi Mumbai.
This is the highest civilian honor that a person can achieve in volunteer service, the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Volunteer Service!
Ms. Persis at her age of 26 has amassed thousands of hours over the course of the past 11 years as an active volunteer in her community through a variety of different organizations. She has partaken in a variety of activities such as teaching English to students in impoverished areas, donating supplies and food to homeless shelters, delivering medical supplies as well as administering medical help to those in impoverished areas, aiding in rebuilding and repairing churches and local camps affected by natural disasters and so much more.
It is through this kind of an investment of over more than a decade is when a civilian as young as her gets awarded with this level of civilian honour. The same should not only make her family but all of us proud.
