Orientation Program – Welcoming the Batch of 2019-20
On Monday, August 19th the department of Sports and Exercise Science held its first orientation for the new batch of 2019-20. It was an absolute delight to familiarize our biggest batch yet of 38 students and their parents to our beloved faculty. In keeping with tradition, the inauguration began with the light lamping ceremony. Then we had the Head of the Physiology Department – Dr. Vivek Nalgilkar who delivered the welcome address.
Our chief guest for the event – the Head of Sports Science at Reliance Foundation was Ms. Leandi Van Zyl. Her, along with our respected dignitaries were felicitated. As every new flight should begin by being grateful for the old ones, our Course Coordinator Ms. Datta Patel shared the journey of Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science through a detailed and well-made presentation ending with the testimonials of a few of the Alumni. We then had a brilliantly articulated talk by our chief guest- Ms. Leandi Van Zyl who has coached athletes of various sports such as tennis, cricket and judo. Her speech not only included the latest technological information but also taught us a lot about our responsibilities as a young Exercise Science student.
One of our dignitaries – Ex-Director of the DY Patil and Griffith University Transfer Program, Dr. Marina Thomas enlightened us with her experience and wisdom regarding the course and its urgent need in our country. We had our most admired teachers introduce their subject and its importance to our new batch. We were also very honored to have amongst us the Ex-Dean of the School of Medicine – share her thoughts. As it is the Department of Sports and Exercise Science, the hosts Naman Thakur and Kirti Agarwal (students of B.S.E.S) took the liberty to play a few fun and engaging games with the audience between the speeches. The entire event was exuberating. It ended with a scrumptious lunch and many smiles!
