The Navi Mumbai Orthopedics Association is an active body, which conducts bi-monthly meetings. The topic of these meetings is the current Orthopedic problems. Opinion leaders in the particular stream are invited for guest lectures. There is a discussion about the particular clinical scenario and the possible solutions with the recent advances in mind.
This month, the meeting is being conducted at DY Patil Deemed to be University, School of Medicine, on 03 / 10 / 2015 under the guidance of Dr. Sanjay Dhar, Professor and Head of Unit, Department of Orthopedics. The issue being discussed is “Rotator Cuff repair”. Rotator cuff has long being subjected to much deliberation with regards to repair modalities. With a high re-tear rate after a cuff repair it’s a big issue in view of the age group and the functional morbidity the condition has. The discussion will start with initial evaluation of the cuff tears with various modalities that are used to get a timely diagnosis of the tear pattern along with radiological investigation to done. Dr. Aashay Kekatpure, lecturer at DY Patil Deemed to be University, School of Medicine, Dept. of Orthopedics will present the evaluation of cuff tears and the repair with update about the recent advances in cuff repair. Dr. Dipit Sahu will present the treatment options in massive and irreparable cuff tears. Dr. Prasad Chaudhari will present the management of complex proximal humeral fractures and their management. Dr. Bhushan Patil, Professor and head, Dept. of Sports Medicine will present about the importance of Rehabilitation in shoulder.
These topics will be discussed at length along with case scenarios and follow-ups of the previous meetings. The residents of host medical college present difficult clinical cases.
