To take a walk down the memory lane, the First Alumni meet was launched and inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri. Uday Gadkari – President COA, Dr. K. S. Anantha Krishna – Principal R.V.C.O.A, (IIA Gold Medalist , 2015) , Prof. Jayashree Deshpande – Director NIASA in the presence of Dr. Vijay D. Patil – President, Dr. DY Patil Group and Dr. Sanjay Oak – Vice Chancellor, DY Patil University. The formal session started by inviting the dignitaries on the Dias and proceeded further with an auspicious invocation song rendered by students and Lighting the Lamp. This function also witnessed the formal release of the Annual College Magazine – SRUJAN and the Maiden International Tour Magazine.
Shri Uday Gadkari addressed the gathering and expressed his pleasure in attending the First Alumni meet. The thought of inviting and organizing such functions shall lead towards bridging the gap between the institute and the practicing architects. Dr. Vijay D Patil shared his views towards development of the country and sending out better architects and designers. The Alumni meet is a good platform for the students to interact with their seniors practicing in the field who also provides them inputs as per the requirements of the industry. He also advised and encouraged regular year long meetings and programs to be conducted to promote more involvement by the Alumni.
The aim of bringing the alumni together was to create an interaction between the industry and the institute so as to benefit the industry in terms of human resources and the students in terms of better opportunities and exposure.The meet was graced by more than 150 Alumni and family ranging across various batches and various parts of the country and outside the country. Alumni right from the first batch of 1992 -97 to the most recent batch were present. Many of them are successful entrepreneurs providing jobs to others as well.
The Cultural meet included melodious singing and electric dance performances by the students of D.Y.P.C.A. The meet was also attended by many current and retired Faculty Members. Great bonhomie was observed everywhere with the alumni reliving their old memories with their batchmates, seniors and juniors. The entire ambience was stimulating with people seen chatting and dancing in groups. The function ended with a promise to meet again on a regular basis by conducting year long events in the college preferably once a month. Everyone bid an emotional farewell to each other and their beloved college.
