Brief

The BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both pre-hospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics.

It is designed to:

– Provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies for victims of all ages.
– Give high-quality chest compressions.
– Provide CPR using barrier device, a bag mask device and oxygen.
– Use an AED.
– Relieve choking.
– Deliver appropriate ventilations in a safe timely and effective manner.

Eligible Participants

The learner will know the steps in basic life support, how to identify symptoms of a patient and how to administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in order to save the life of any patient in danger.

The DY. Patil Medical Simulation lab offers the following features :

– The latest resuscitation science and adult-learning techniques Realistic scenarios, simulations and animations depicting rescuers, teams and patients.

– Instructor-led, hands-on class format reinforces skills proficiency.

– Emphasis on high-quality CPRfor adults, children, and infants including a team dynamics classroom activity.

– Video-based course with real world scenarios.
The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
Effective ventilations using a barrier device
Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infant

– Recall the basic steps for use of an AED.

– Recall the basic steps to relieve choking for responsive and unresponsive victims over 1 year of age and for infants.

– Explain the importance of each link in the adult and pediatric Chain of Survival
Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques
Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant

BLS 1

Duration

Complete BLS Course takes approximately 1 day to complete, including skills practice and skills testing.

*Course time based on 1 instructor: 20 students: 2 manikins

Healthcare professionals and trained first responders in a wide variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings.
People who require BLS Provider status and CPR training to enter into a healthcare-related job or program.

Certificate

Participants will be provided with a course completion certificate in BASIC LIFE SUPPORT by the D.Y. Patil University, Medical Simulation Lab.

  4. Classes must be paid in full in order to receive a certification card and continuing education credits.
  5. A certification card will be awarded on the day of the course to those who complete it successfully and have paid for the course in full.
  6. The D.Y. Patil Medical Simulation Lab strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.
