Sports For All 2016
Sports For All’, a multi-event competition for schools in and around the city, is staged to be scheduled from December 5th – 24th December 2016, which will offer a bigger platform for talented school children to perform in their favourite sporting disciplines. SFA will be launching talent and development programmes in all the disciplines for which tie-ups with Michael Phelps Swim School, Sports Reconnect, Sports United and Kleinetics have been signed. Joshi plans to go national by 2022.
Joshi also announced DY Patil Sports Academy , as the official venue partner of SFA Mumbai 2016, which will be developed into a centre of excellence. “We want to make DY Patil a centre of excellence for sports so that athletes can come and practice throughout the year. The idea is to create a sports ecosystem where aspiring young athletes get ready made facilities to train,” said Joshi.
“The seeds sown at DY Patil will grow into a big tree very soon. SFA deserves a lot of praise for that,” said Dr. Vijay Patil. Patil said he was happy with the event because “they do not discriminate and have given a chance for everyone to come and perform on a common platform,” he added.
Dr. Vijay Patil, president of the D.Y. Patil University & Stadium, said: “This initiative targets talent at the grassroots level in a professionally managed setup. We have taken the lead in setting up the best sports facility for our children. I urge every school, parent, coach to be part of this Olympic-style multi-sport competition.”
