Anatomy is one of the subject of basic medical sciences. It is the Mother of surgery. What Geography is to History, Anatomy is to Medicine. The Department of Anatomy is dedicated to teaching being the foundation and key subject to Medical (UG and PG),Dental, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Sports Exercise Nutritional Sciences, Paramedical and Nursing students of this institution. The department has a spacious dissection hall where adequate cadavers and prospected parts are available for dissection to enhance students knowledge about the human body. We also have collection of foetuses which can help the students learn precisely the ‘Developmental Anatomy’. The department has a well-equipped histology lab with good quality binocular microscopes. Slides of various tissues and organs are available for study. Audiovisual aids such as overhead projectors and slide projectors are used in the department. The museum in the department has mounted wet specimens, plaster of Paris models, fiber 3D models and good quality charts for learning. The museum has an imaging gallery where the radiographs, CT and MRI plates are displayed.
Well qualified faculty members are teaching the subject under the subdivisions like Gross Anatomy, Microscopic Anatomy or Histology, Developmental Anatomy, Genetics, Radiology surface marking and Osteology.
The Anatomy department trains the students by using both traditional & innovative teaching methods. The department actively takes part in adopting newer teaching methods like small group discussion, problem based learning, demonstration and interactive sessions like student’s seminar and integrated teaching. We also have Students Gallery in the dissection hall, where we have displayed various anatomical models and drawings made by our students.”

Department of Biochemistry was established in year 1989. The Department of Biochemistry at the DR. DY PATIL Medical College, Nerul, India is an academic basic science department, actively engaged in teaching, training and research. The teaching faculty is well qualified, competent and additionally trained in medical education technology. This department aims and strives to achieve excellence in the fields of medical education and diagnostics by providing holistic education inclusive of up-to-date knowledge and research in the field of clinical chemistry.
Courses trained under Biochemistry Department include:
Undergraduate courses – MBBS, BDS, BSc nursing and various allied health science courses
Post graduate courses – MSc MLT, MSc CNN
Doctorate programme – PhD
The department constantly innovates to teach students in these courses as effectively as possible, to enable them to comprehend the relevance of biochemistry in their fields and to be able to apply this knowledge in their future work as health care professionals. Nurture and academic support to students through their course are important inputs of the teaching program.
